Runner Strength Training

Reverse lunge

Knee and thigh · Learning · in reps · per side

Why it helps your running

The knee-friendliest lunge: your front leg works without having to brake a step coming at it.

You'll need
nothing: just your bodyweight
Tempo
2 s down, 1 s up

How to do it

  1. Standing tall, take a big step back and lower for 2 seconds, back knee toward the ground.
  2. Drive up through your front heel and bring the foot back in.
  3. Keep your chest upright and hips square.

Common mistakes

  • Your step back is too short and your front knee drifts way out over your toes.
  • Your torso leans off to one side.

Strength work, built into your plan.

Your coach picks your movements, their sets and tempo, and slots them into your week — with a guided session, minute by minute.
