Runner Strength Training

Short foot

Foot and calf · Learning · in seconds held · per side

Why it helps your running

An active arch that holds its shape under your weight, especially when fatigue kicks in.

You'll need
nothing: just your bodyweight

How to do it

  1. Foot flat on the ground, draw the ball of your foot toward your heel without curling your toes: the arch lifts.
  2. Hold the position, foot shortened, breathing normally.
  3. Keep your toes long and relaxed, resting on the ground.

Common mistakes

  • Your toes curl up and claw at the floor.
  • Your ankle rolls outward to cheat the movement.

Strength work, built into your plan.

Your coach picks your movements, their sets and tempo, and slots them into your week — with a guided session, minute by minute.
