Runner Strength Training

Standing anti-rotation press

Core · Learning · in reps · per side

Why it helps your running

Your core refuses to twist: less energy lost in rotation every time an arm swings forward.

You'll need
nothing: just your bodyweight
Tempo
1 s down, 1 s up, 2s pause

How to do it

  1. Stand tall, feet hip-width apart, hands together in front of your chest, weight shifted onto one leg.
  2. Press your arms straight out in front of you, hold 2 seconds while squeezing your abs and glutes, bring your hands back in.
  3. Resist the urge to let your shoulders turn: keep your belly button facing forward.
  4. Switch the direction of the pressure for the second side.

Common mistakes

  • Your shoulders rotate along with your arms.
  • You arch your lower back to keep your arms extended.

Strength work, built into your plan.

Your coach picks your movements, their sets and tempo, and slots them into your week — with a guided session, minute by minute.
