Runner Strength Training

Walking lunges

Mobility · Learning · in reps · per side

Why it helps your running

Stretches the hip flexor of the back leg and warms up your quads as you move forward, like an exaggerated stride.

You'll need
nothing: just your bodyweight
Tempo
2 s down, 1 s up

How to do it

  1. Take a big step forward, lower until your back knee almost brushes the ground.
  2. Push through your front heel to come back up, then step into the other leg.
  3. Keep your chest upright, hips under your shoulders.

Common mistakes

  • Your front knee shoots way past your toes and your heel lifts off.
  • You lean forward as you stand back up.

Strength work, built into your plan.

Your coach picks your movements, their sets and tempo, and slots them into your week — with a guided session, minute by minute.
