Runner Strength Training

Bodyweight good morning

Posterior chain · Learning · in reps

Why it helps your running

Teaches the hip hinge with a flat back: hamstrings lengthening under tension, just like at the end of your stride.

You'll need
nothing: just your bodyweight
Tempo
3 s down, 1 s up

How to do it

  1. Stand tall, hands behind your head or crossed on your chest, knees slightly unlocked.
  2. Push your hips back and hinge forward over 3 seconds, back flat, until you feel your hamstrings.
  3. Come back up by driving your hips forward, squeeze your glutes at the top.

Common mistakes

  • Rounding your back: the movement comes from the hips, not the lower back.
  • Bending the knees too much, which turns it into a squat.

Strength work, built into your plan.

Your coach picks your movements, their sets and tempo, and slots them into your week — with a guided session, minute by minute.
