Runner Strength Training

Plank with leg lift

Core · Building · in reps · per side

Why it helps your running

Your core stays locked while one leg moves: exactly what it does on every stride.

You'll need
nothing: just your bodyweight
Tempo
1 s down, 1 s up, 1s pause

How to do it

  1. In a forearm plank, lift one straight leg a few centimetres, hold for a second, lower it back down.
  2. Nothing moves above the hips: keep your pelvis level.
  3. Alternate sides or do all the reps on one side, same number on each.

Common mistakes

  • Your hips tilt toward the lifted leg.
  • You lift too high and your lower back arches.

Strength work, built into your plan.

Your coach picks your movements, their sets and tempo, and slots them into your week — with a guided session, minute by minute.
