Runner Strength Training

Single-leg balance

Hips and glutes · Learning · in seconds held · per side

Why it helps your running

Your foot and hip learn to self-correct: fewer rolled ankles and surer footing on the trail.

You'll need
nothing: just your bodyweight

How to do it

  1. Stand on one foot, knee slightly unlocked, the other foot lifted a few centimetres off the ground.
  2. Stay tall, eyes on a fixed point in front of you.
  3. The standing foot is working: feel the big toe, the little toe and the heel grounded.

Common mistakes

  • The free hip drops and your pelvis tilts.
  • You go stiff instead of letting your foot make its small corrections.

Strength work, built into your plan.

Your coach picks your movements, their sets and tempo, and slots them into your week — with a guided session, minute by minute.
